AIRMEN COMMUNICATION 2/15/22

We hope everyone had a safe weekend as we begin to laissez le bon temps rouler! Here's what you need to know for this week:

INTERIM TESTING: Wednesday and Thursday of this week our students will be participating in the LEAP 360. This test is part of a series of preparatory tools The Arthur School is using to prepare our students for this year's LEAP test. On Wednesday, students will be assessed in Math. On Thursday, students will be assessed in English. Testing will take place during the morning hours. After lunch, students will continue with their regularly scheduled courses. Please ensure that your Airmen get plenty of rest and get to school on time! Speaking of,

ATTENDANCE: For those of you who rely on our bus transportation and/or dutifully ensure that your son is to school on time each day, feel free to skip to the next section of this email. Currently, we have several students who are chronically tardy. Should your Airman be in that group, please allow this to be the encouragement needed to ensure that your son is on time to school each day. The Arthur School must ultimately comply with the State of Louisiana's truancy laws meaning, parents of students who have chronic absences and tardies will be reported to the proper authorities. If you have any concerns about your son's ability to get to school on time, this is your last opportunity to reach out and make a plan. We have designed each school day to be beneficial to your son from 8:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Every minute counts. Please do your part; punctuality is the starting line.

WATER BOTTLES: Due to our ongoing concerns about COVID-19,

we are asking that students bring a CLEAR, reusable water bottle with them to school for their hydration needs. Though the official Airmen water bottle that was given to students at the beginning of the school year is encouraged, it is not required. Any clear, reusable water bottle will be allowed on campus. Students will have 2 opportunities to fill up daily: once at breakfast/before the day begins and once at lunch. There's been much ado about this matter, so hopefully this clears things up.

COVID-19: Yet another successful week of testing. Of the 11 faculty/staff members and 26 students tested, our community yielded 0 positive results for COVID-19. If you or a loved one is signed up for testing at our school, make sure you arrive by 8:30 AM to ensure your ability to get a COVID test. Because we are a small school, once our students and faculty members complete their testing, we dismiss the testing team as they do have other schools to visit. Thank you to all those who have signed your Airmen up for COVID testing; it is because of you that we can be confident in our student's health and wellbeing.

That is all I have for you today! Have a great rest of your week :)
